Military

Today we pray for the members of the Armed Forces, especially those who are stationed at the Pentagon or a local post. Lord, your Word says you are our shield and our protector, our defender and fortress. You are a God of might and justice, who wields power perfectly and proportionately to accomplish your will. You delight in a lawful, just and secure society where people can flourish. We pray for your image bearers who serve in our armed forces, who are entrusted with the power of the sword and shield. Give them wisdom as they discern how to wield that power justly and responsibly. Protect them when they are placed in harm’s way and care for their families when they are deployed. Military life can make it difficult to have healthy family and personal relationships, especially when serving in one area for a short time. May we befriend those who are stationed in the area, inviting them into our homes and our lives. And may they flourish as they connect more closely to you, others, themselves and your creation. Amen.

Email a note of encouragement to the Pentagon.
