Serving Immigrants
“You are also to love the resident alien, since you were resident aliens in the land of Egypt.” (Deut. 10:19)
Arlington is one of the most ethnically rich places in the country, with over 100 languages spoken in the homes of our neighbors. But many immigrants struggle to feel connected because of language or cultural barriers.
What could it look like if we worked together?

Client Relationship Services
Immigrants are often unaware or skeptical of the many resources and opportunities available to them. Our bilingual Care Coordinator meets individually with clients who struggle in English, helping to translate forms and contracts or navigate the complexities of various agencies. More often, immigrants simply need someone who will listen to their concerns and pray for them. Volunteers who serve in this ministry can help our clients feel valued, loved and connected.

English Conversation Classes
Our “Coffee & Conversation” classes are held during the fall and spring, where immigrants can practice their conversational skills in an informal setting. Led by volunteers from our partner churches, the classes are combined with a variety of life skills topics. In addition, Bridge Builders helps promote English As A Second Language courses that are offered directly by a local church.

Citizenship Classes
Arlington Bridge Builders offers comprehensive citizenship classes for immigrants seeking to navigate the naturalization process. Our classes provide essential knowledge of U.S. history, government, and civics, equipping participants with the tools needed to succeed in their citizenship interview. We are committed to fostering a holistic approach that supports immigrants on their journey to becoming active members of the community.
