Our Mission
We are made for more
You, and every person you see today, are made for more.
Much more. In a word, we are made for flourishing.
The Bible calls that shalom, which means complete
wholeness and integration.
Where all the parts of our lives are healthy and connected.
Where our relationships with our family,
friends and neighbors are thriving.
Where we are connected to creation itself,
caring for the earth and stewarding its resources.
And most importantly, where our relationship with God is also flourishing, as we delight in his presence and purpose.
Yet if we’re honest, all of those relationships–with self, others, creation and God–are flawed and broken in various ways. We personally experience disintegration–the opposite of shalom–when our lives are in turmoil, or we don’t act according to our convictions. When our relationship with a family member is fractured, or a new immigrant feels alienated from the community. When creation is harmed, or even seems to be turning against us. And most tragically of all, when God seems uncaring, unable, or absent.
Something is broken
Flourishing is possible again
Fortunately, God has not left us to ourselves. The incredibly good news is that because of the life, death and resurrection of Jesus, shalom is possible again. And God calls his people not to selfishly seek only their own welfare, but to participate in his great work of restoration. In that, we are inspired by what God said to his people through the prophet Jeremiah, to “seek the shalom of the city where I have sent you into exile, and pray to the Lord on its behalf, for in its shalom you will find your shalom.” (Jer. 29:7).
What could it look like, if we pursued that vision together?
