Neighboring
“Love your neighbor.” (Mk. 12:31)
Due in part to the professional transience of our region, a culture that celebrates busyness, and our innate desire to project a successful image, Metro DC is one of the loneliest cities in the country. Isolation is just one symptom of a disconnected society.
What could it look like, if we worked together?

Community Gatherings
The people in our region are constantly on the move: moving in, moving out, and moving from one thing to another. In such a transient and frenetic city, it can be very difficult to develop meaningful relationships. And so the Bridge Builder network encourages churches to work together to host block parties, supper clubs, and social events to help us know and love our neighbors, including the ones literally next door.

Cultural Festivals
A theologian once said, “just as the traces of God are spread over many, many works . . . so also the image of God can only be displayed in all its dimensions and characteristic features in a [broad and diverse] humanity whose members exist . . . side by side.” To that end, Bridge Builders hosts events that celebrate the rich ethnic diversity of our community. These gatherings are not only fun and meaningful for those with a common ethnicity, they also help others appreciate their cultural heritage.
