Today we pray for the officers and staff of the Arlington Police Department. Lord, your Word says you are our shield and our protector, our defender and fortress. You are a God of justice who deeply cares for the weak and vulnerable. You delight in a lawful, just and secure society where people can flourish. We pray for your image bearers in the police force whose mission is to “reduce crime and improve quality of life,” a vital part of human flourishing. In particular, we pray for the well-being of the 300 officers who work long hours in demanding, stressful and often thankless roles, which take an enormous toll on their personal and family life. We ask you to strengthen and encourage them as they serve and protect our community. May they flourish as they connect more closely to you, others, themselves and your creation. Amen.
