We pray today for Arlington’s theaters, performers and administrative staff who stage live productions. Lord, instead of simply giving us rules and regulations, you gave us stories. And you told your stories well, in quiet and dramatic ways. While the setting of those stories are different from our own, they are very human stories of drama, lament, joy, heartache, provision, suffering, and redemption we can readily relate to. You even wrote yourself into our story, by becoming one of us and experiencing all that it is to be human. We pray for your image bearers in the world of theater who tell and perform stories, who stretch our imaginations and emotions, helping us connect to stories beyond our own. In a world that sometimes sees art and artists as luxuries, may they feel valued, needed and integral to our own flourishing. And may they flourish as they connect more closely to you, others, themselves and the created order. Amen.
