Today we pray for the local businesses and gig workers that contribute to our economy. Lord, you are a God who works, creating microbes and galaxies, and everything in between. You are constantly at work, upholding the universe by the word of your power, giving and sustaining life, and finding delight in your work. As your image bearers, we are likewise made to work, even working unto you and not simply for a paycheck. We pray for the many small and local businesses located in Arlington, that they may flourish. We are grateful not only for their significant contribution to the local economy, but also for how they shape so much of the character and flavor of our community. And in a region that highly honors professionals, we are particularly grateful for those who work in the trades and service sector; may they feel valued and needed as well. And may they all flourish as they connect more closely to you, others, themselves and your creation. Amen.
