Today we pray for the Department of Human Services, which provides a broad range of programs to promote economic security, safety and well-being. Lord, your heart is filled with steadfast mercy and compassion. Your Word repeatedly reminds us you are inclined to the most vulnerable among us, serving as a protector of widows, orphans, the poor and the sojourner. We pray for your image bearers in the Department of Human Services who likewise care for our vulnerable neighbors, facing a variety of needs. We ask you to care for these caregivers. Where they lack resources, we ask for provision. Where they lack wisdom, we ask for insight. Where they lack hope, we pray for perseverance. Where they lack encouragement, we ask for a supportive community. And may they flourish as they connect more closely to you, others, themselves and your creation. Amen.
